One of the most outstanding investments nominated in the 7th edition of the competition for the Architectural Award of the President of the Capital City of Warsaw is the historic residence at 13/15 Foksal Street. The two buildings, designed and built at the end of the 19th century, were one of the few monuments of Warsaw’s Śródmieście (downtown area) to survive World War II. Unfortunately, shortly after they fell into disrepair and were considered to be demolished. Today, they have regained their former glory thanks to the exceptional financial resources as well as work and expertise of art historians, artists, sculptors and the most outstanding craftsmen. The investment carried out by Ghelamco is an example of how historical buildings should be renovated.
This spectacular revitalization was appreciated by the jury of Warsaw’s most important architectural award, which nominated Ghelamco’s investment to the finals of the competition in the “New Life of Buildings” category. No wonder – this is an absolutely unique project on a national and European scale, an example of an investment where the focus is on quality rather than quantity.
The vote will take place from the 11th to 21st of May. Votes can be cast at: http://www.um.warszawa.pl/nagrodaarchitektoniczna/.This is an opportunity for the second Architectural Award of the President of the Capital City of Warsaw for Ghelamco in recent years. Earlier, Plac Europejski won the competition and ramains an extremely popular spot among Warsaw residents.
